ITHACA, N.Y.  —Junior
Morgan Racicot set a career-high for points in a game and 11 different student-athletes recorded at least one point as a balanced Ithaca College women's lacrosse team defeated Houghton 21-3 Saturday at Higgins Stadium.
Racicot, an attacker, scored a career-high nine points on five goals with four assists as the Bombers (7-3, 4-0 Empire 8) remained perfect in conference play.
Freshman
Danika Wagener scored a career-high four points (one goal, three assists) with four groundballs, and junior
Morgan Cadwell and freshman
Allison Panara each added three goals in the win.
Senior
Riley Marion and junior
Gaby Berne each added two goals with an assist, while freshman
Julia Silvestri scored two goals and senior
Mackenzie Robinson scored one goal with one assist as the Bombers scored their second-most goals in a game this year.
Marion won five draw controls and caused two turnovers, while sophomore
Elizabeth Sauer caused four turnovers, and senior
Erika Johnson caused three turnovers as IC forced Houghton (3-8, 0-2) into 31 turnovers.
Ithaca outshot Houghton 38-5, won 21 of 25 draw controls, and enjoyed a 26-15 edge in groundballs.
Cadwell won three draw controls and was 2-for-3 on free-position shots, while Panara, Robinson, Sauer, Wagener, and senior
Ally Lates each won two draw controls.
Wagener found Panara for a goal just 43 seconds in as Ithaca scored four goals in the first 3:54. Racicot added two goals during the run and assisted on Berne's tally as IC raced out to an early lead.
Houghton got on the board seven minutes in, but Marion and Racicot scored on free-position shots for a 6-1 lead with 17:24 remaining. After winning the ensuing draw control, Marion found Racicot for her fourth goal of the opening half just 12 seconds later, then Racicot returned the favor by setting up Marion for an 8-1 lead halfway through the first.
Houghton scored with 13:30 remaining to pull within 8-2, but Ithaca stiffened up its defense and held the Highlanders scoreless for 27:06 bridging the two halves.
Ithaca took a 13-2 lead into halftime by closing the half on a 5-0 run. Panara and Silvestri scored twice while Cadwell added a free-position goal during the run, which Silvestri capped with her unassisted tally with one second remaining in the half.
The Bombers came out of the break hot, scoring the first seven goals to extend their lead to 20-2. Cadwell scored twice while Robinson, Wagener, Racicot, Berne, and junior
Taylor Brady each added a goal to lift Ithaca.
The Bombers host William Smith at 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference showdown at Higgins Stadium.
