No. 11 Men's Lax Caps Regular Season Perfect at Home

ITHACA, N.Y. —The nationally-ranked Ithaca College men's lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season undefeated at home thanks to Saturday's 19-2 win over Houghton College at Higgins Stadium.

Ithaca (12-1, 5-0 Empire 8) extended its winning streak to 10 games and improved to 7-0 at home in 2016. It is the Bombers' longest winning streak in school history.

Freshman Conner Crosson was one of five players to set a career-high for points scored in the win against the Highlanders (3-9, 0-5). Crosson scored 10 points on seven goals with three assists, and he also collected three groundballs in the win.

Junior Sean Ferrito scored a career-high seven points on two goals with five assists, while freshman Scott Glowner added a career-high seven points on five goals with two assists for the Bombers, ranked ranked 11th in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine top 20 poll, and 12th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) top 20 poll.

Freshman Connor Hulme equaled his career-high with four points (three goals, one assist), while freshman Brad Davis added a career-high two goals as Ithaca remained in first place in the Empire 8.

The Bombers, who entered play ranked third nationally in scoring defense (5.33 goals per game), have outscored their foes 177-51 during the winning streak.

Sophomore Steven Landspurg collected six groundballs while winning 8 of 9 faceoffs. Classmate Aaron Sanchez picked up four groundballs and caused four turnovers. Ferrito, scooped up three groundballs, as did freshmen Tommy Bray and Griffin Meyers as Ithaca enjoyed a 32-16 edge in groundballs while forcing Houghton into 18 turnovers.

Ithaca, which entered play ranked third nationally in scoring offense (16.75 goals per game) eclipsed 15 goals in a game for the 12th time in 13 games.

Against the Highlanders, the Bombers scored the first nine goals of the game as Crosson and Glowner scored three goals apiece while Davis, Ferrito, and Hulme added goals during the run.

Ithaca led 8-0 after the first quarter and held Houghton scoreless for the first 20:32 until Paul Chapman's unassisted goal with 9:28 remaining in the second.

Crosson then scored two more goals, including one off a feed from Ferrito with two seconds remaining in the opening half, and Ferrito added a tally as IC took a 12-1 lead into halftime.

Ferrito added a goal with an assist while Hulme scored twice and Crosson handed out two assists in the third quarter, and the Bombers blanked the Highlanders in the fourth while tacking on four more goals.

Ithaca travels to No. 2 RIT at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the final non-conference game of the season.
