CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Ithaca College baseball team went toe-to-toe with defending national champion and No. 2 SUNY Cortland on Tuesday at Wallace Field, but fell in 10 innings, 3-2, on a walk-off home run. With the loss, Ithaca is now 6-7 on the season, while Cortland moves to 15-3.

Josh Savacool from third base on a ground ball that turned into a fielding error. Savacool led off the game with a single, stole second and moved up to third on the first error of the inning.
Cortland tied the game in the bottom of the fourth with back-to-back doubles. The Red Dragons then singled to place runners at the corners, but a double play ended the threat of another run crossing home plate.
In the bottom of the sixth, Cortland took the lead, 2-1, on an RBI groundout. Ithaca answered with a run in the seventh on an RBI double off the bat of Savacool that brought home freshman
Sam Little, who led off the inning with a single.
The Bombers had a chance to regain the lead in the ninth after two runners reached and moved into scoring position with one out, but the next two batters would strikeout.
Cortland ended the game in the bottom of the 10th on a full count, two-out solo home run to right field.
Savacool went 2-for-5 in the game with a run scored, RBI and stolen base. Thompson was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Little collected one hit in three trips to the plate with a run scored and stole base. Junior
Ryan Henchey tallied the other hit for Ithaca's offense.
Senior
Benji Parkes started on the mound for the Bombers and went six innings in a no decision. Parkes allowed two runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.
Sophomore
Tyler Hill entered in the seventh and was handed the loss by way of the home run, which was the only hit he gave up over 3.2 innings pitched.
The Bombers are off until March 29 when they host No. 19 SUNY Oswego at 4 p.m. at Freeman Field for their home opener.
