Racicot's Career Game Lifts Women's Lax Past Skidmore

CLERMONT, Fla. —
Junior Morgan Racicot scored a career-high six points on five goals with one assist to power the Ithaca College women's lacrosse team to a 12-6 win over Skidmore College Friday afternoon.

Junior Morgan Cadwell added four points on three goals with an assist, while sophomore Elizabeth Sauer caused five turnovers and scooped up four groundballs, and junior Gaby Berne added four groundballs for the Bombers (3-2). Ithaca enjoyed a 31-21 edge in groundballs.

Also scoring goals for IC were: seniors Ally Lates and Riley Marion, and freshmen Erin McGee and Julia Silvestri.

Freshman Reid Simoncini caused three turnovers, while Marion, senior Erika Johnson, and sophomore Maggie Wise caused two turnovers apiece in the win.

Junior Emily Ross made five saves while allowing four first-half goals to earn the win. Sophomore Kimberly Presuto played the second half, making two saves while allowing a pair of goals for Ithaca.

Racicot scored IC's first three goals, the last of which staked Ithaca to a 3-2 lead with 21:07 remaining in the opening half.

Racicot then fed Lates for a person-up goal with 19:08 remaining, but Skidmore (2-3) responded with back-to-back goals to tie the score at four halfway through the first.

McGee and Cadwell (person-up) scored goals in the final 3:16 of the opening half as Ithaca took a 6-4 lead into halftime.

Skidmore scored the first two goals of the second half to pull even at six with 23:50 remaining, but the Bombers closed the game on a 6-0 run to pull away for the win.

Racicot put IC back on top 7-6 on an unassisted tally with 22:47 remaining, then Cadwell added back-to-back goals for a 9-6 lead with 8:21 to play.

Silvestri extended the lead to 10-6 on a free-position goal with 3:55 remaining, and Marion and Racicot tacked on goals in the final two minutes for the Bombers, who held the Thoroughbreds scoreless for the final 23:50.

The Bombers return home to host Elmira College in their Empire 8 opener, at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Higgins Stadium.Â
