Women's Lacrosse Dominates In Empire 8 Play

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team defeated Hartwick, 22-5, in an Empire 8 matchup on Friday, April 3, at Higgins Stadium. The Bombers improved their record to 4-5 on the season and 2-1 in conference play. The Hawks are now 2-6 and 1-3 in the Empire 8.

Ithaca dominated the game from the start with five unanswered goals in the first five minutes of play. Ally Runyon scored two of those five goals, while Niki Standera, Riley Marion and Morgan Cadwell scored the other three to put Ithaca up 5-0 over the Hawks.

Hartwick put one past Ithaca at 23:52 in the first half. Cadwell responded ten seconds later with an unassisted goal, making the score 6-1. Taylor Purvis continued the offense by coverting on an assist from Natalie Lang. Seven minutes later; Emily Peters sent a pass to Olivia Oppenheim, who registered her fourth goal of the season. The Hawks scored two quick goals at 14:50 and 13:30. Ithaca then went on a three-goal rally to extend the lead 11-3, in favor of the Bombers. Oppenheim, Peters and Racicot all recorded goals in that time.

The Hawks scored twice before the half. In between the pair of Hartwick goals, Ally Runyon put one in the back of the net on a feed from Molly Fisher. The Bombers lead the Hawks 12-5 at halftime.

Ithaca did not allow any goals in the second half and increased its lead 22-5.

Peters and Standera each scored twice in the second half, while Runyon, Marion, Cadwell and Purvis all scored once. Gaby Berne recorded her first goal of the game in the second half as well.

Runyone led the Bombers with four goals and two assists. Peters and Oppenheim scored three goals and an assist, both marking career high numbers. Standera and Cadwell tied their career highs with three goals as well. Purvis scored twice with two assists, while Marion scored twice and added an assist. Racicot paced Ithaca with three assists, in addition to a goal.

Freshmen Kimberly Presuto and Kelsey Fee split time in goal in the win against Hartwick. Presuto recorded eight saves to get the win and Fee made three saves in 20 minutes of play.

Ithaca controlled the pace of the game, winning 18-of-29 draw controls and registered 33 shots to the Hawks' 18. The Bombers also edged Hartwick 29-21 in groundballs.

Ithaca hosts Stevens on April 4, in more Empire 8 action. The conference game is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Higgins Stadium.
