Box Score CORNING, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team built an 11-goal lead at halftime and never looked back in a 19-4 win over Elmira College on Tuesday afternoon in a match played at Corning Community College. Ithaca is 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the Empire 8. Elmira is 0-5 on the season and 0-2 in the conference.
Ithaca scored the first seven goals of the game over the first eight minutes of play to seize control of the game. Four of those goals came on free-position shots.
Ally Runyon,
Delaney Gilson and
Riley Marion all scored twice in the opening run for the Bombers.
After the teams traded two goals, Ithaca closed the first half with a four-goal run and led 13-2 at the break. Due to the score margin, the second half was played in running time. Ithaca added six more goals and allowed just two to close out the contest.
Runyon finished the game with four goals and Marion scored three.
Gaby Berne, Gilson,
Mackenzie Robinson and
Olivia Oppenheim had two goals each.
Morgan Racicot and
Morgan Cadwell each had a goal and an assist.
Ali Woller,
Natalie Lang and
Erika Johnson each had two draw controls to help Ithaca in the possession game and Berne, Johnson and
Laura Scalzi shared the team lead by picking up three ground balls.
Emily Ross played the first half in goal for Ithaca and made one save.
Kelsey Fee and Kimberley Presuto split the goalkeeping duties in the second half. Fee had one save and Presuto made two saves.
Ithaca returns to action Thursday at home against Cortland. The Red Dragons, ranked sixth by the IWLCA Poll, will visit Higgins Stadium at 4 p.m.
