Men's Basketball Cruises to Win Over Cobleskill

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team scored a season-high 93 points as the Bombers handed SUNY Cobleskill a 93-65 loss on Saturday in the Cortaca Classic.

With the win, Ithaca improves to 3-1 while the Fighting Tigers fall to 0-4 overall.

The Bombers scored on their first possession and never looked back, using an 11-0 run over the game's first three minutes to put Cobleskill in their rearview mirror.

After a Marc Chasin bucket in the paint staked Ithaca to a 14-point lead, 38-24, Cobleskill would cut the lead to eight points before a 3-pointer from Joey Flanagan as time expired in the first half sent both teams into the locker room with Ithaca holding a 43-32 advantage.

The Bombers' offense continued to impress in the second half when Carroll Rich's lay-up sparked a 12-0 run for Ithaca capped by a Luke Cooper bucket with 12:36 left to play to give the Bombers a 24-point edge, 65-41.

Ithaca would lead by as many as 28 points after a 3-pointer from Padraic Brady as the Bombers earned their second straight win by double figures.

Nine different players scored in the win for Ithaca led by Joey Flanagan's 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting.  Flanagan was named the Tournament's Most Valuable Player as a result.  Chasin, who was also named to the All-Tournament team, notched his second double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Bevan contributed 16 points after knocking down four from distance to go along with six assists and five boards.  Rich finished with 11 points and five rebounds.  Freshman Peter Ezema grabbed 14 rebounds including four on the offensive glass.

Ithaca will look for its third straight win at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1 when it hosts SUNY Cortland in Ben Light Gymnasium.  As part of the Bombers' #ShedTheRed Campaign, the first 50 students that donate an article of red clothing will receive a free Bombers t-shirt.
