NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team dropped to 0-2 on the season with a 71-63 non-conference road loss at SUNY New Paltz on Wednesday evening. Ithaca led, 55-50, after the third quarter, but was outscored, 21-8, over the final 10 minutes of play.
The Bombers and New Paltz both shot 33.8-percent from the field – 22-for-65 for Ithaca and 23-for-68 for the Hawks. Ithaca held a slight edge in three-pointers made, 10 to seven, but the difference in outcome came at the free throw line, as New Paltz connected on 18-of-23 attempts to 9-of-15 for the Bombers. Ithaca forced 12 turnovers, but committed 21 on the offensive end of the floor.
Ithaca trailed by two points at the half, 33-31, but took the lead after the third quarter by outscoring New Paltz, 24-17. The game was decided over a 4:48 span to start the fourth quarter, as New Paltz came out on a 13-0 run to turn a five-point deficit into an eight-point lead.

Alex Gilligan led the Bombers offense with 14 points on 4-of-14 shooting (3-for-8 from distance) with four rebounds. Freshman
Allie Tunick connected on 4-of-5 attempts from three-point range to tally 13 points in 13 minutes in a reserve role.

Erin Ferguson narrowly missed out on a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, and went 6-for-9 from the floor. Classmate
Ali Ricchiuti also came up just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and eight points, to go along with three assists.
Senior
Keri Steele contributed seven points, five rebounds and three assists, while sophomore
Jordan Beers dished out five assists with four points and three boards.
Sophomore
Erin Woop added three points and two rebounds. Junior
Shayna Gaskins and sophomore
Julie Yacovoni combined for five rebounds and two points for Ithaca.
The Bombers will look for their first win of the season in their home opener against Bard on Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. as part of the IC Invitational. The Invitational opens with Coast Guard and Dickinson at 1 p.m. on Friday, with the winners of the two contests meeting at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
