ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team managed 16 shots but was unable to find the back of the net as the Bombers fell to Hamilton College, 2-0, in a non-conference pairing at Carp Wood Field on Tuesday night.
With the loss, Ithaca falls to 2-7-1 on the season while the Continentals reach .500 at 5-5-0.
After playing a scoreless first half of play, Hamilton would strike twice in a span of six minutes. In the 52nd minute, the Continentals fired a strike that junior goalie
Zach Jacobsen turned aside, but Hamilton would bury the rebound to go up 1-0. The second goal would mirror the first, as the visitors scored on a rebound after a Bombers' save to take a two goal lead into the contest's final minutes.
As the clock ticked down, Ithaca went on the offensive taking five shots, but couldn't cross the goaline as the visitors held on for the win.
Jacobsen (2-7-1) made eight stops in goal while
Zachary Lichtman and
Matt Bukowski each took three shots.
The Bombers will hit the road for their next matchup, a bout with fellow Empire 8 opponent, Houghton, at 12 p.m. on Saturday in Houghton.
