HOUGHTON, N.Y. – For the seventh time this season, the Ithaca College field hockey team recorded a shutout victory with a 2-0 win at Houghton on Saturday afternoon. Ithaca is now 10-3 on the season and 6-1 in the Empire 8 Conference with three games remaining on its schedule.
The Bombers scored one goal in each half, and outshot Houghton, 17-6. Ithaca also held a 12-4 advantage in corners.
Junior
Cassie Schuttrumpf put in the game-winner in the 15th minute off a pass from classmate
Colleen Keegan-Twombly. The two then switched roles for the second tally of the contest in the 58th minute.
It was Schuttrumpf's sixth goal of the season and third game-winning score. Keegan-Twombly put in her team-leading 11th goal of the season, and has scored at least one goal in five straight contests for the Bombers.
Junior
Katie Lass made five saves on the afternoon for her 10th victory in goal. Lass has posted six shutouts on the season. She entered today's with the third-best save percentage in NCAA Division III abd the eighth lowest goals-against average.
Ithaca wraps up Empire 8 play at Utica next Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. After that, the Bombers travel to Geneseo on the 28th for a 4 p.m. contest and host Brockport on the 31st for Senior Day at 12 p.m.
