Women's Soccer Takes Down Farmingdale, 2-0

Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team (3-0) defeated Farmingdale Sunday afternoon, dropping the Rams by a score of 2-0 at Carp Wood Field.

Junior Kelsey King and sophomore Jess Demczar scored for the Bombers; while junior goalkeeper Beth Coppolecchia moved to 3-0 after stopping all four shots she faced for her third-consecutive shutout to start the season.

King scored the first goal of the contest, netting her third of the season at 12:30 of the opening half. King collected the ball at the far side of the Farmingdale net, beating out three Rams on the play. King broke free and sent a shot past the Farmingdale goalkeeper for the 1-0 advantage. Coppolecchia turned away two Farmingdale shots in the frame, sending Ithaca to the half with the lead.

The Bombers struck again in the final two minutes of play, as Demczar converted on a direct free kick just outside the Farmingdale box. Demczar's goal marked her first of the season, and secured the 2-0 victory for Ithaca. King's game-winning goal marked her third of the season, the most in the Empire 8.

The Bombers are back on the road for their next contest, as Ithaca travels to Cortland for a neutral site game against Rochester on Sept 17. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
