Ithaca Records Second-Straight Shutout In 1-0 Win

Box Score UNION, N.J. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team moved to 2-0 on Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Stockton in the final game of the Kean Cougar Classic.

Junior Kelsey King scored the Bomber goal, marking her second tally of the season in as many games. Junior goalkeeper Beth Coppolecchia recorded her second-straight shutout, putting her record at 2-0 on the young season.

The Bombers heavily outshot the Ospreys in the opening frame, as Ithaca recorded nine shots on goal and held Stockton without a single shot on net. Despite Ithaca's shot advantage, the game went to the half at a scoreless draw.

The Bombers broke the scoring drought in the 61st minute. King collected a cross pass on the near end line from sophomore Holly Niemiec and beat the Stockton goalkeeper to give Ithaca the 1-0 advantage. Coppolecchia stopped two Osprey shots in the frame, preserving the shutout and a Bomber win.

Ithaca returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 7 in a home match against Farmingdale. The game is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start.
