FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team competed in a tri-meet with Fredonia and Nazareth Saturday afternoon. The Bombers finished first in 11-of-16 events.
Ithaca started the day with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of
Megan Buisman,
Grace Ayer,
Elizabeth Gawrys and
Lake Duffy earned the top spot with a time of 1:55.28.
Ayer dominated throughout the remainder of the meet, piling up points for the Bombers with three more first place finishes. She paced the field in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in a time of 1:00.70. Ayer also finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke, completing the race in a time of 2:30.30. Ayer completed her individual achievements with a finishing time of 2:12.93 to earn the top spot in the 200-yard individual medley.
Buisman also did well individually, earning a first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:11.76. She finished second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.08. Gawrys finished first in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:23.76. Not to be outdone, Duffy earned the top spot with a time of 25.30 in the 50-yard freestyle and finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.43.
Nickie Griesemer paced the field in the 1-meter dive, earning a first place finish with a season-high score of 232.05. She also earned a second-place finish in the 3-meter dive, earning a season-high score of 249.40. Teammate
Heather Markus placed third in the 3-meter dive, finishing with a score of 238.45
Meredith Wells earned the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:11.28.
Megan Zart capped of the individual top finishes, taking first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:03.01.
The Bombers closed the meet with a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Buisman, Duffy,
Erin Hackett and
Lyndsay Isaksen finished in a time of 1:44.13.
Ithaca is back in action on Jan. 18 in a road meet with Rochester.
