ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 8 Ithaca College women's soccer team (6-1-0, 2-0-0) defeated Utica Wednesday afternoon, shutting out the Pioneers by a score of 5-0 at Carp Wood Field. Seniors Amanda Callanan and Jackie Rodabaugh, sophomore Kelsey King and freshmen Megan Nash and Hannah Haskell all scored in the Bomber victory.
Sophomore Beth Coppolecchia earned her sixth win of the season, stopping both shots she faced in 73:44 minutes. Senior Becca Lewis closed out the contest for Ithaca, holding the Pioneers scoreless in the final 16:16 of play.
Callanan got on the board first for the Bombers, as she scored on a penalty kick just 8:40 into the game for a 1-0 Ithaca lead. In the 31st minutes, freshman Holly Niemiec pushed a centering pass towards the Pioneer net, finding Nash for the tip in. Nash's goal marked the first of her collegiate career, and gave Ithaca the 2-0 lead at the half.
Rodabaugh opened the second half with her second goal of the season, scoring on a feed from fellow senior Jessie Warren in the 52nd minute. The Bombers took a 4-0 lead in the 65th minute, as King scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season. Haskell capped the scoring for Ithaca, as her first collegiate goal in the final six minutes of play secured the 5-0 shutout victory for the Bombers.
Ithaca is right back in action on Saturday, Sept. 24 in a road game against Alfred. The match is set to start at 11 a.m.
