Women's Soccer Holds Off Hartwick For 1-0 Victory

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team (5-1, 1-0) defeated Hartwick (3-2-2, 0-1) Saturday afternoon, beating the Hawks by a score of 1-0 at Elmore Field. Senior Amanda Callanan scored for the Bombers, while sophomore goalkeeper Beth Coppolecchia stopped both shots she faced for her third shutout of the season. Ithaca finished with a 13-5 shot advantage, and registered 10 corner kicks in the contest.

The Bombers only goal of the game came in the 18th minute, as Callanan converted on a penalty kick for her first goal of the season. Coppolecchia and the rest of the Bomber defense held strong for the remainder of the contest, securing the win to open conference play.

Ithaca is back in action on Sept. 25 in a home game against Utica. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
