SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Senior
Tracy Rivas erupted for seven goals, but it wasn't enough as the 13th-ranked Ithaca College women's lacrosse team (4-4) fell to Union (2-3), 13-12, Tuesday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.
Ithaca led 6-2 at the half, but the Dutchwomen went on to outscore the Bombers 11-6 in the second half.
Rivas' seven goals ranks tied for 10th-most single-game goals in program history. She had twice previously netted six scores. Rivas increased her career tally to 207 points to sit tied for third most at Ithaca on 149 goals and 58 assists.
Rivas opened action with a hat trick in the first 16 minutes of play. Senior
Nikki Dahl scored a pair and Rivas netted her fourth to put the Bombers in front 6-0 with 2:45 lingering in the first. Union recorded back-to-back goals for a 6-2 game at intermission.
The teams exchanged three goals each early in the second stint with Ithaca owning a 9-5 lead at 24:33. The Dutchwomen scored two more to pull within 9-7, but the Bombers answered with a pair to reinstate a four-goal 11-7 gap at 16:20. Rivas erased a Union goal with her seventh at the nine-minute mark, but Union went on to score five unanswered in the final eight minutes of action to win its second of the season.
Ithaca led the shot count 30-24 and ground balls 22-18. Union won 20 draws to Ithaca's seven.
Dahl finished with a hat trick for Ithaca and a Bomber-best four ground balls. Senior

Kim Armbruster added a goal and freshman Allison Runyon an assist.

The Bombers return to action on Saturday, April 6 with a 1 p.m. Empire 8 game at Nazareth.
