CLERMONT, Fla. – The 15th-ranked Ithaca College women's lacrosse team (2-1) suffered a 14-7 setback to fourth-ranked Gettysburg (5-0) on Wednesday at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla.
The game was knotted early at 1-1 and 2-2, but the Bullets netted seven of the last eight goals in the first half to lead 9-3 at intermission. The Bombers crept within 9-5 at the 20-minute mark of the second, but Gettysburg powered to its fifth straight victory with a 5-2 run to end the game.
Seniors
Tracy Rivas and
Nikki Dahl dominated Ithaca's offensive efforts with four and three goals, respectively. Dahl added an assist and senior
Michelle Avery dished out two for the Bombers.
Rivas, who was 2-for-2 in free position shots, moved into seven-place all-time at Ithaca with 137 goals and improved to fifth with a career tally of 191 points.
Sophomore
Molly Fischer won four draw controls to lead the Bombers.
Senior
Jess Worthman made four saves in goal to move to 2-1 on the season.
Gettysburg held a 23-21 edge in shots, while each team collected 15 ground balls apiece. The Bullets led the draw control count, 12-9.
The Bombers will return to action on Thursday when they face eighth-ranked Franklin & Marshall at 2 p.m.
