Women's Soccer Shuts Out Elmira, 3-0

Box Score
ELMIRA, N.Y. – The No. 6 Ithaca College women's soccer team (10-1-0, 4-0-0 E8) defeated Elmira (3-7-1, 1-2-1 E8) Saturday afternoon, dropping the Soaring Eagles by a score of 3-0 at Campus Field. Sophomore Kelsey King scored once for the Bombers, while senior Anna Gray added two goals in the victory.

Sophomore Beth Coppolecchia stopped all three shots she faced in 72:43 of work. Senior Becca Lewis closed out the contest, not allowing a goal in the final 17:17 of play.

King got the Bombers on the board first, knocking home a rebound after a shot that hit post by senior Ellyn Grant-Keane.  King's goal just over 10 minutes into the first half marked her team-leading eighth goal of the season, giving Ithaca a 1-0 lead.

The Bombers closed out the first half with two-straight tallies from Gray in the 31st and 40th minutes, netting both of her goals on free kicks. Gray's offensive output marked her first two-goal game since Sept. 20, 2011, a 4-1 win over Cortland.

Ithaca's three-goal outburst in the opening half would be all the Bombers would need. Elmira was held without a shot on goal in the second frame, giving the Bombers their eighth shutout of the season.

Ithaca is back in play on Monday, Oct. 14 against Houghton at Carp Wood Field. The match is set to start at 4 p.m.
