Box Score Cortland, N.Y. -- The 25th-ranked Cortland field hockey team (1-1) posted a 4-0 victory over Ithaca (3-2) Wednesday afternoon at the Cortland Stadium Complex. It was the first road game of the year for the Bombers.
The Bombers held the territorial advantage for the first portion of the opening half and forced a difficult save from the Cortland goalkeeper on a close-range shot by junior forward

Cortland opened the scoring in the 18th minute of play, before Ithaca had a great chance to equalize. With 14:31 remaining in the first half when the Bombers were awarded a penalty stroke after a Cortland defender committed a foul directly in front of the cage as Ithaca took a shot from close range, but the stroke attempt was wide to the left.
The Red Dragons added two goals in the first five minutes of the second half and one more in the final seven minutes of the game.

Kelly Singleton made 17 saves, the most stops she's made in a game this season. Ithaca earned two penalty corners in the contest.
Ithaca returns to action Saturday at home, when Empire 8 play begins at Higgins Stadium against Nazareth at 1 p.m.
