Clinton, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team (11-3) won its eighth consecutive victory with a 9-8 triumph at 19th-ranked Hamilton (6-9) on Tuesday afternoon. The Bombers, who are receiving votes in the week nine IWLCA national poll, last tallied eight straight wins in the 2003 season.
In a contest that was knotted on three occasions, Ithaca only trailed once. The Continentals netted the game's first, but Ithaca put away three straight for a 3-1 lead nine minutes into the game. Hamilton rebounded to tie up action at 3-3 at 11:20, but the Bombers rattled off three straight to end the half with a 6-3 gap.
Hamilton made it a one-goal game early in the second. The teams twice exchanged scores before the Continentals brought the game to an 8-8 stalemate at 11:52. Junior
Tracy Rivas found the back of the net at 6:11 with the game-winner for the Blue & Gold.
Hamilton outshot Ithaca, 18-17, and held a slight 16-13 edge in ground balls, while the Bombers claimed a 13-6 advantage in draw controls.
Rivas led all offensive efforts with three goals and a pair of assists. She cracked the all-time top 10 at Ithaca with 160 points with the performance to rank ninth. Senior
Nicole Borisenok chipped in two goals and one assist to move into second-place all time with 208 career points.
