Cortland, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team (3-2) suffered a 17-6 setback at third-ranked Cortland (5-1) on Saturday afternoon.

Despite netting the game's first goal, Ithaca got into an 8-2 hole by the half before the Red Dragons extended their lead to 13-3 at 17:40 of the second. Ithaca managed two straight scores but Cortland sealed the game with four of the game's final five tallies.

Senior Nicole Borisenok and junior Nikki Dahl recorded a pair of goals each for the Bombers, while senior Racquel Lividini and freshman Molly Fischer both added one. Senior Siobhan Sullivan scooped up a game-high five ground balls and junior Kim Armbruster won a team-best three draws. Sophomore Jenna Marchinette led the Bombers' defensive efforts with three forced turnovers.

Cortland outshot Ithaca, 33-15 and had 24 ground balls to the Bombers' 19. The Red Dragons also held a 17-8 advantage in draw controls.

Borisenok struck less than a minute into play to get scoring started, but Cortland answered with three straight to take the lead indefinitely. Borisenok used a Becky Guzzo assist to make it a 3-2 game at 21:03 before the Red Dragons rattled off five unanswered to close out the half with an 8-2 gap.

Cortland scored first in the second and Dahl answered with a free position shot a minute later, but Cortland pieced together a 4-0 streak to lead 13-3 at 17:40.

Fischer and Dahl scored back-to-back Bomber goals to bring the game to 13-5. Cortland scored four goals down the stretch, broken up by a Lividini score on a Tracy Rivas feed.

The Bombers will next travel to Buffalo State for a 4 p.m. game on Wednesday, March 28.
