Women's Swimming Clinches Undefeated Dual-Meet Season

ITHACA, N.Y. -- With victories in 10 events, the Ithaca women's swimming and diving team secured an undefeated regular season with a 196-100 victory against Union on Saturday at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion. Ithaca finished its dual-meet season with a record of 12-0-1. The Bombers won seven individual events, one relay and both diving events.

Junior Carly Jones was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08.14 and the 100-yard butterfly in 58.81. Jones also contributed to the Bombers' win in the 200-yard medley relay. She teamed with freshman Kylie Bangs, junior Madi Sherry and sophomore Elizabeth Gawrys to win the event in 1:35.80. Bangs also picked up a victory in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.45.

Senior Missy Keesler took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.78, while classmate Cali DeSanto won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:16.45.

Freshman Megan Buisman touched the wall first at 2:12.45 to win the 200-yard backstroke. Sophomore Lauren Brundage turned in an event-winning time of 2:35.07 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

In the diving events, graduate student Katie Kaiser won the 1-meter with 257.75 points, while senior Jodi Costello tallied 273.75 points to finish first in the 3-meter. Kaiser's score met the NCAA qualification standard on 1-meter.

Prior to the meet, the Bombers honored Kara Allison, Meg Brubaker, Costello, DeSanto, Kaiser, Keesler, Simone McCarron, Kelly Murphy and Amanda Vitullo in a senior day ceremony.

The Bombers will host the Ithaca Invitational on Feb. 18 and then compete in the UNYSCSA/Empire 8 Championship meet Feb. 22-25.
