UTICA, N.Y. – The #4 Ithaca College women's soccer team (14-0-1, 5-0-1 Empire 8) blanked host Utica (6-8-0, 0-7-0 Empire 8), 3-0, on Wednesday evening at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium to remain unbeaten on the season.
The Bombers had three tally scores. Junior
Ellyn Grant-Keane secured the eventual game-winner in the 15th minute on a feed from senior
Julie Winn.
Grant-Keane posted back-to-back shots, the first was saved before she got a foot on the rebound for the score.
Winn has a Bomber-best eight assists this season.
Senior
Rachael Palladino scored an insurance goal at the 60-minute mark on a ball centered by graduate student
Megan Trager. It was her tenth goal of 2012.
The Bombers' third and final score came at 72:52 when freshman
Kelsey King placed a shot past the Pioneer goalkeeper inside the left post.
King capitalized on a through-ball from junior
Jackie Rodabaugh.
Ithaca, who has clinched a spot in the conference tournament, outshot the Pioneers 15-3 in the first frame and 18-2 in the second, while also earning 12 corner kicks to Utica's zero.
The Bombers, who are off to their best start in program history, return to Carp Wood Field on Saturday, Oct. 20 for a 3 p.m. match against Alfred.
