ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's swimming & diving team remained undefeated (11-0-1) on the season with a 238-56 win over Alfred at the Athletics & Events Center Aquatics Pavilion on Saturday afternoon. The Bombers had 10 individuals combine for 13 event victories, and Ithaca also won both relays in the team's highest-scoring dual meet of the year.
Three Bombers were double-winners in individual events. Freshman
Megan Buisman (Penfield/Rochester) won the 50-yard backstroke in 29.22 seconds and 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.02. Junior
Madi Sherry (Hamburg/Orchard Park) won the 50-yard breaststroke in 31.12 seconds and the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:12.19, and sophomore
Elizabeth Gawrys (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) won the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.33 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:23.38.
On the diving boards, senior
Jodi Costello (Framingham/Framingham, Mass.) placed first on 1-meter with a score of 228.82 and sophomore
Korie Fackler (Central Dauphin East/Harrisburg, Pa.) was first on 3-meter with a score of 260.55.
Sophomore
Lauren Brundage (St. Elizabeth/Madison, N.J.) and junior
Carly Jones (Liverpool/Liverpool) were on both winning relays and won individual events.
Brundage placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:06.40) and
Jones won the 50-yard butterfly (26.92).
They were joined on the winning 400-yard medley relay by freshman
Kylie Bangs (Westfield/Westfield, N.J.) and freshman
Lyndsay Isaksen (Ward Melville/East Setauket) with a winning time of 4:10.96. The winning 800-yard freestyle relay (8:11.55) included
Gawrys,
Jones,
Brundage and
Buisman.
Bangs won the 100-yard freestyle in 57.53 seconds and sophomore
Shelby Pascoe (Palisades Charter/Pacific Palisades, Calif.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:02.42.
The Bombers will host the Dick Comanzo Memorial Diving Invitational on Sunday at noon, and then wrap up the regular season at home against Union at 2 p.m. on Feb. 4.
