Gray Tallies Two to Help #14/21 Bombers Upend Cortland, 4-1

Cortland, N.Y. – The 14th/21st-ranked Ithaca women's soccer team (5-0-1) continued its unbeaten streak with a 4-1 victory at Cortland on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Rachael Palladino (Lansing/Lansing) tallied early before sophomore Anna Gray (Delmar/Bethlehem) added a career-high two goal performance to solidify a 3-0 Ithaca gap at the break. Cortland brought the match to 3-1 in the 52nd minute but a Bomber goal with 2:17 lingering in the game finalized all scoring at 4-1.

The Red Dragons held a slight 21-17 edge in shots, while the Bombers were awarded four corners to Cortland's one.

Scoring opened when Palladino capitalized on a ball from sophomore Ellyn Grant-Keane (Lansing/Lansing) in the 15th minute just four minutes before Gray placed a direct kick in the upper left corner of goal for a 2-0 cushion.

Gray put another in the back of the net at 38:54 as her free kick deflected off a defender into goal for a score.

Six minutes into the second stint, Cortland scored its lone goal. The scoreboard read 3-1 until sophomore Amanda Callanan (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) rifled a 30-yard shot inside the right post for the Bombers' largest road win of the season.

The Bombers will next travel to Farmingdale for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday.
