Oneonta, N.Y. -- The 21st-ranked Ithaca women's soccer team (10-2-3) tallied a goal in each half to power to a 2-0 victory, its sixth shutout of the season, at Oneonta (7-8-1) on Wednesday afternoon.
Ithaca put away a pair of unassisted scores to move into the double-digit win column for the 2011 season.
Sophomore
Ellyn Grant-Keane (Lansing/Lansing) tallied what proved to be the game-winner in the 21st minute. She recorded her sixth goal of the season firing a shot from 30 yards out on a
Marla Schilling (Canton/Canton, Conn.) assist over the Red Dragon's goalkeeper's head at 20:40.
Scoring remained silent until sophomore
Amanda Callanan (Ballston Spa/Ballson Spa) found the feet of classmate
Jamie Ruddy (Irondequoit/Rochester). She capitalized on a break-away opportunity with 13 minutes lingering on the clock to give the Bombers a 2-0 cushion.
Junior
Becca Salant (Holliston/Holliston, Mass.) made six stops in goal for the Bombers to earn her fourth complete career shutout.
Oneonta held a 14-10 edge in shots and took five corner kicks while the Bombers were granted none.
The Bombers will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 11:30 a.m. against RIT at Carp Wood Field.
