ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca men's swimming & diving team (11-5) wrapped up its home season with a 131-110 loss to Union (4-5) Saturday afternoon at the Hill Center Pool.
Sophomore Antoine Connors (Spartanburg/Spartanburg, S.C.) won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.87 seconds, the 100 free in 48.37 seconds and led off the winning 400-yard freestyle relay that touched first in 3:15.85.
The 400 free relay also included freshman Jake Robbins (Fairport/Fairport), junior Steve Croucher (Dallastown Area/York, Pa.) and freshman Chris Cadwell (C.W. Baker/Baldwinsville). Robbins was second to Connors in the 100 free in 48.89 seconds.
Sophomore Jeff Rapp (Liverpool/Liverpool) won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:57.62 and placed second in the 200 free in 1:48.55.
Sophomore Josh Leary (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh, Pa.) was second in the 1,000 free in 10:33.55.
Sophomore Derek Rand (Amity/Orange, Conn.) placed second in both diving events. He scored 263.40 points in 3-meter diving and 245.90 points on the 1-meter board.
Ithaca seniors Gary Westerhoff (Kinnelon/Kinnelon, N.J.), Matt Carolan (Northampton Area/Walnutport, Pa.) and Andrew Longcore (Red Hook/Red Hook) were honored prior to the start of the meet.
Ithaca returns to competition later this month at the Empire 8 and UNYCSCA championships at Nottingham High School in Syracuse.
