#10/24 Women's Soccer Team Cruises To 5-0 Win At Alfred

Alfred, N.Y. -- The women's soccer team (8-2-0, 4-0-0 Empire 8) outshot host Alfred 47-3 en route to a 5-0 win Saturday.  Sophomore Rachael Palladino (Lansing/Lansing) scored two goals as the Bombers remained atop the Empire 8 standings, winning their 16th straight against conference opposition.

Palladino netted Ithaca;s first two goals -- her 12th and 13th goals of the season -- and raised her season total to 30 points (matching the program's ninth-highest single-season total). With 61 career points, she ranks 11th on Ithaca's all-time list.

Sophomore Julie Winn (Sutton/Sutton, Mass.) gave Ithaca a 3-0 lead late in the first half, curling a direct kick past the Saxons' goalkeeper. Winn assisted on Palladino's second goal, sending a long pass from midfield that Palladino took before maneuvering past the goalkeeper. Liz Masucci (New Providence/New Providence, N.H.), a graduate student, assisted on the game's opening goal.

Sophomore Kaitlin Hoffay (Ithaca/Ithaca) scored her second goal of the season in the 71st minute, taking a long pass from freshman Jackie Rodabaugh (Central Mountain/Mill Hall, Pa.). Five minutes later, senior Megan Trager (Sharon/Sharon, Mass.) picked up the Bombers' final goal, pushing the ball past the goalkeeper after a shot by senior Kelley Hand (Valley Central/Walkill) left Alfred's keeper out of position.

Three goalkeepers -- seniors Jessica Platt (Monument Mountain/New Marlborough, Mass.) and Alyssa Sotomayor (East Brunswick/East Brunswick, N.J.) and sophomore Becca Salant (Holliston/Holliston, Mass.) -- shared the shutout for Ithaca with Sotomayor recording the Bombers' only save.

The Bombers host St. John Fisher Sunday at 1 p.m.
