Palladino Sets School Scoring Records As Bombers Blast Rensselaer 3-0

Troy, N.Y. -- Sophomore Rachael Palladino (Lansing/Lansing) collected two goals and an assist -- giving her school-record totals of 20 goals and 45 points -- as Ithaca (12-3-1) closedout the regular season with a win at Rensselaer (4-11-2). Ithaca, ranked 11th by the NSCAA and 19th by D3soccer.com, opens postseason play Saturday at Nazareth, facing Stevens Institute of Technology in an Empire 8 Championship Tournament semifinal.

Palladino scored both her goals in a 147-second span late in the first half. She was credited with an unassisted goal that put the Bombers on the board in the 30th minute after picking up a loose ball eight yards out and putting a high shot in the far corner. Two minutes later, graduate student Liz Masucci (New Providence/New Providence, N.J.) brought the ball down the left side and passed to sophomore Caroline Jastremski (Notre Dame Academy/Staten Island). Jastremski crossed the ball to Palladino, who sent her record-setting 20th goal of the season past a diving goalkeeper.

Palladino's 20 goals and 45 points top records set by Chelsey Feldman (19 goals in 2007) and Winnie Adrien (43 points in 2008). With 32 goals in 39 career matches, she's tied for sixth on Ithaca's all-time list and her 76 points are good for seventh place.

Freshman Ellyn Grant-Keane (Lansing/Lansing) closed out the scoring in the 70th minute, collecting her first collegiate goal by converting a rebound of Palladino's shot.

Senior Jessica Platt (Monument Mountain/New Marlborough, Mass.) made two stops to record her fourth solo shutout of the season.

The Bombers' 43 assists leave them one short of the school record, set each of the past two seasons.
