Bombers Fall To Defending National Champs

Courtney Dowell recorded 11 saves and five ground balls

ITHACA, N.Y.—The Bombers (5-6) lost to seventh-ranked Hamilton, the defending national champion, Wednesday afternoon at Carp Wood Field. Junior Kylie McClure (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio) led Ithaca with 4 goals scored against the Continentals.

After falling behind 11-3 in the first half, Ithaca matched Hamilton in the second with both teams scoring five times. McClure scored twice in the second half, as did fellow junior Kassie Garfield (The Wheeler School/Cuttyhunk Island, Mass.).

Sophomore Katie Hurley (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) and freshman Nicole Borisenok (Albany Academy for Girls/Watervliet) also scored for the Bombers, with Hurley adding an assist.

Defensively, junior goalie Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) made 11 saves and picked up a career-high five ground balls. Five Bombers forced a turnover in the game.

Ithaca returns to action Saturday with a 1 p.m. home matchup with Rochester Institute of Technology.
