Women's Lacrosse Falls to St. John Fisher

Abby Peterson forced six turnovers.

 

ITHACA, N.Y.--The Bombers (4-5, 1-3 Empire 8) lost to St. John Fisher (4-5, 2-2 Empire 8) 15-9 Friday afternoon. The loss was Ithaca's first at Carp Wood Field this season.

The Bombers scored six of their nine goals in the first half, ending the period down by one goal. Sophomore Katie Hurley (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima) scored three of those goals. Her first two came less than 30 seconds apart and gave Ithaca a 2-1 advantage. Hurley leads the team with 32 goals.

Ithaca outshot the Cardinals 40-26, won 19 of 26 draw controls, and scooped up 20 ground balls to St. John Fisher's 17 but gave up six straight goals to open the second half that pushed the Cardinals' lead to seven.

Freshman Nicole Borisenok (Watervliet/Albany Academy for Girls) led all Bombers with four points on two goals and two assists. She ranks third on the team with 21 goals and second with 9 assist.

Junior Kylie McClure (Upper Arlington/Columbus, Ohio) registered two second-half goals and now has 23. Fellow junior Kassie Garfield (The Wheeler School/Cuttyhunk Island, Mass.) and sophomore Ali DeCirce (Binghamton/Binghamton) also tallied goals.

Sophomore Abby Peterson (Mount Mansfield Union/Underhill, Vt.) recovered three ground balls and caused a career-high six turnovers and junior goalie Courtney Dowell (Massapequa/Massapequa) registered five saves and three ground balls in the effort.

Ithaca returns to Carp Wood Field Saturday for a 1 p.m. Empire 8 matchup with Nazareth.
