Women's Basketball Takes Over, Wins Home Opener

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca women's basketball team (3-2) never trailed in the second half and went on to a 66-50 win over Oneonta (0-3) Tuesday night at Ben Light Gymnasium. Junior guard Jordan Confessore (South Brunswick/Kendall Park, N.J.) recorded her second double-double in three games to lead the Bombers.

Confessore posted game-high totals of 17 points and 11 rebounds, matching career-bests in both categoreis. Junior forward Jane DeBiasse (Chatham/Chatham, N.J.) scored a career-best 13 points and junor forward Elissa Klie (Ramapo/Wyckoff, N.J.) and sophomore guard Jessica Farley (Pine Valley Central/South Dayton) both added nine points. Farley added three steals and a career-best six assists. Klie contributed six rebounds and a personal-high six steals.

Junior forward Blaire Moldenhauer (Albany R III/Albany, Mo.) pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds while scoring eight points in just 16 minutes of play.

The lead the Bombers took into halftime (a 32-31 advantage thanks to Klie's jumper with five seconds left in the first half) was just their second of the game; Confessore connected on a jumper with 4:51 to go to put Ithaca up 25-24. Ithaca scored seven of the first nine points in the second half. The winless Red Dragons closed to two points 4:45 into the period, but eight straight Bomber points -- including six by Moldenhauer -- pushed the lead to 10 and Oneonta never got closer than six points again.

Ithaca continues its three-game homestand next Tuesday, hosting #35 Cortland at 6 p.m. The Bombers have already beaten the Red Dragons this year, posting a 55-52 win in last weekend's Cougar Classic at Kean.
