Women's Swimming & Diving Sinks Bloomsburg

Missy Keesler was victorious in four events during Saturday's dual meet victory.

ITHACA, N.Y. – Senior Lauren Botterbusch (Dallastown/York, Pa.) won three events on Saturday to help lead the Ithaca women's swimming & diving team (4-1) to a 187-107 win over Bloomsburg. The Bombers got started quickly as the quartet of freshman Missy Keesler (Union-Endicott/Endicott), sophomore Rebecca Blazak (Quaker Valley/Sewickley, Pa.), sophomore Joanna Ferreri (Niskayuna/Niskayuna) and sophomore Maddie Kennedy (Head Royce/Alameda, Calif.) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:54.96.

Botterbusch won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.75, the 200 Breast (2:30.23) and the 200 Individual Medley (2:17.05) to help lead the Bombers. Keesler won the 100 Backstroke (1:01.89) and the 200 Back (2:10.79).

The Bombers relay team of Keesler, Kennedy, Ferreri and sophomore Sheila Rhoades (Dryden/Dryden) won the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:45.20.

Kennedy also won the 200 free (2:01.01) to cap off a strong individual performance. Rhoades added two individual events of her own as she won the 100 Free (54.81) and the 50 Free (25.03).

Ithaca freshman Jodi Costello (Framingham/Framingham, Mass.) and junior Naomi Mark (Dansville/Dansville) were the top-performing divers for Ithaca. Costello won the 1-meter event with a score of 208.75 points and Mark won on the 3-meter board with 173.40 points. The diving competition took place Friday night.

Freshman Kelly Murphy (Blake/Silver Spring, Md.) won the 500 free (5:23.50) for the second straight meet.

The Bombers travel to Clinton Saturday to take on Geneseo, Hartwick and host Hamilton in a quad meet.
