Utica, N.Y. – The 10th-ranked women's soccer team (11-2-2, 7-1-0 Empire 8) lost 2-1 at Utica Wednesday evening in its final Empire 8 game of the season. The game, which was played in an uncharacteristic October snow fall, was part of Breast Cancer Awareness, with both teams wearing pink warm-ups and using a pink soccer ball for the game.
After the Pioneers scored a pair of goals early in the second half, junior
Winnie Adrien (Blair Academy/Blairstown, N.J.) pulled the Bombers to within a goal in the 75th minute with her team-best 13th score of the season. Her 13 goals match her total from last year for the program's fourth-highest single-season total.
Adrien's 30 points are also fourth on Ithaca's single-season list and she has now scored 58 points in 26 games at Ithaca, good for ninth on the program's career list.
Ithaca had six more shots in the game's final 15 minutes, including three that were saved.

The Bombers close out the regular season Saturday, hosting Vassar at 2 p.m. They have already clinched the Empire 8 regular-season title and the right to host next month's Empire 8 Championship Tournament, which will be Nov. 8-9 at Carp Wood Field.
