ITHACA, N.Y. –The women’s tennis team (4-0, 4-0 Empire 8) defeated Alfred (1-2, 1-2 Empire 8) on Monday, 6-3. The win extends the Bombers conference winning streak to 16 straight Empire 8 victories. Senior Rachel Gunderson (Maple Grove/Bemus Point) led the Bombers with wins at third doubles and second singles. She now holds a share of fifth place on the career singles wins list with 40.
Junior
Natalie Jenereski (Knoch/Butler, Pa.) also posted two victories for the Bombers. She teamed with
Gunderson for an 8-6 win at third doubles and won at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-3. Classmate
Alyssa Jaffe (Pascack Hills/Montvale, N.J.) was a 6-2, 6-0 winner at third singles.
Gunderson picked up a 6-0, 7-6 victory at second singles.
Sophomore
Devra Reiman (Columbia/Maplewood, N.J.) was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at fourth singles, while classmate
Sarah Hollis (Greens Farm Academy/Fairfield, Conn.) posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory at fifth singles.
The Bombers return to action Wednesday against Cortland at 4 p.m.
