Bombers Advance to Empire 8 Semifinals with 9-0 Win over Elmira

Danny Wolk was one of four Bombers to record two wins over the Soaring Eagles.

Rochester, N.Y. -- The third-seeded men's tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament with a 9-0 quarterfinal victory over sixth-seeded Elmira. The Bombers will next face second-seeded St. John Fisher Saturday at 2 p.m. at Nazareth.

Senior Colin Flynn (Needham/Needham, Mass.) posted a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles and teamed with classmate Joe Young (Pocono Mountain/Saylorsburg, Pa.) to record an 8-1 win at first doubles. Freshman #Taylor Borda# (West Morris-Mendham/Chester, N.J.), junior Jeff Buffum (Morristown/Morristown, N.J.) and sophomore Seth Magnani (Oxford Academy/Oxford) were also 6-0, 6-0 winners at second, fourth and sixth singles, respectively.

Freshman Danny Wolk (The Field School/Potomac, Md.) was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at third singles, as was sophomore Zach Baum (Evanston Township/Evanston, Ill.) at fifth singles. Borda and Wolk teamed for an 8-0 win at second doubles. Freshman Liam Berkowitz (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) and Buffum also registered an 8-0 win at third doubles.
