Women's Soccer Blanks Hartwick 4-0

Marci Buehler scored her first goal of the season in the win
Oneonta, N.Y. – The women’s soccer team (9-2-0, 4-0) defeated Hartwick (3-9-0, 0-4) Saturday in an Empire 8 contest. The win extends Ithaca's unbeaten streak in conference contests to 28 games (26-0-2). Four Bombers scored in the victory.
 
Sophomore midfielder Amy Scheffer (Schalmont/Schenectady) scored the only goal of the first half in the game’s 40th minute. Scheffer led the team with six shots in the game. The goal was the third of the season for Scheffer, and her ten total points rank her third on the team in that category.
 
Ithaca broke the game open in the second half scoring three unanswered goals. Seniors Alli Mayo (Skaneateles/Skaneateles) and Marci Buehler (Kenmore West/Kenmore) each scored their first goals of the season. Freshman forward Kelly Gannon (Schoharie/Howe’s Cavern) recorded her first assist of the season on Mayo’s goal.
 
Senior forward Colleen Masterson (Trumansburg/Trumansburg) scored her fifth goal of the season in the 58th minute. Masterson ranks second on the team this season in goals (5), assists (3) and points (13).
 
Senior goalkeeper Aimee Meacham (Massena/Massena) recorded her sixth shutout of the season making one save in the victory. Seven of the Bomber’s nine wins this season have come via the shutout.
 
Ithaca outshot Hartwick 27-1 in the game.
 
The Bombers’ next contest will be Sunday against Alfred. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at Carp Wood Field.
