Baseball Team Beats Pomona-Pitzer 17-5

Jeremy Peters has five hits in two games
Claremont, Calif. – The baseball team won its second game in as many days to open the season, beating Pomona-Pitzer 17-5. Junior Jeremy Peters (Thomas R. Proctor/Utica) singled, doubled twice and drove in three runs to lead the Bombers. Sophomore third baseman Josh Smith (Pulaski/Pulaski) added three hits and three RBI’s.

Senior outfielder Kyle Rutherford (New Milford [Conn.]/Katy, Texas) went three-for-four, scored three runs and drove in two others. Senior shortstop Rob Litz (Walkill/Walkill) contributed two hits, two RBI’s and two runs. A total of 11 Bombers scored at least one run as Ithaca recorded 17 hits.

Sophomore Nick Sottung (Pulaski/Pulaski) earned the win, improving to 8-2 in his career. He allowed two earned runs over six innings.

The Bombers play at Occidental Wednesday.
