#23 Men's Lacrosse Defeats #26 Oneonta 9-3

Matt Nelligan has scored a team-leading 11 goals this season.
Oneonta, N.Y. -- The 23rd-ranked men's lacrosse team defeated #26 Oneonta 9-3 to improve to 2-1 on the season. The Bombers were led by sophomore Matt Nelligan (The Pingree School/Rowley, Mass.), who scored a game-high four goals in the win.
 
Ithaca held a 3-1 lead after the first quarter, but the Red Dragons (3-1) scored twice in the first five minutes of the second quarter to tie the game at 3-3. Sophomore Kevin Bush (Arapahoe/Littleton, Colo.) answered with 5:40 remaining in the first half to give the Bombers the lead for good at 4-3. The Bombers scored each of the five goals in the second half for the 9-3 final.
 
Freshman Mike Cintineo (Honeoye Falls-Lima/Honeoye Falls) scored two goals with two assists for four points. Sophomore Logan Bobzien (Arapahoe/Littleton, Colo.), Bush and senior Doug Lumb (Auburn/Auburn) each scored one goal with two assists.
 
Junior Dennis Butler (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) made 10 saves, eight of which were in the second half, in recording his second win of the season.
 
Ithaca will next travel to St. John Fisher on March 22 for a 4 p.m. Empire 8 contest.
