Men's Swimming & Diving Falls at Alfred

Brennan Hagy won the 200-yard butterfly at Alfred.
Alfred, N.Y. -- The men's swimming & diving team lost at Alfred 155-86 on Saturday. Senior Mark Tedeschi (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) and sophomore Brennan Hagy (LaSalle/Wyndmoor, Pa.)were Ithaca's top performers, winning in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard butterfly, respectively, with a times of 2:15.54 and 2:05.45.
 
Sophomore Mike Ariel (Xavarian Brothers/Norwood Mass.) placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.72 and finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.01. He teamed with Tedeschi, sophomore Mike Blizniak (Iroquois/East Aurora), and senior Charles Suozzi (Guilford/Guilford, Conn.) to finish second in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:45.44.
 
Sophomore Shane Hamman (Henderson/Westchester, Pa.) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.98 and Suozzi placed second in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.91. Freshman Andrew Longcore (Red Hook/Red Hook) finished third in the three-meter board with a score of 165.00.
 
Junior Scott Wilson (Springville Griffith Institute/Springville) was Ithaca's top-finisher in the 500-and 1,000-yard freestyle events, finishing second and third, respectively, with times of 5:13.21 and 10:42.04 . Wilson, Blizniak, freshman Garrett Westerhoff (Kinnelon/Kinnelon, N.J.) and senior Eric Hansen (Watkins Glen/Burdett) registered a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:32.89.
 
Ithaca returns to action on January 13, 2007 at Rensselaer's  Henry Kumpf Invitational at noon.
