Ithaca Women's T&F Team Hits Six ECAC Qualifiers During Tuesday Meet

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's track & field team met six ECAC qualifiers as the Bombers hosted the Ithaca Tuesday Meet at Butterfield Stadium Tuesday afternoon.
 
Freshman Brandy Smith hit three ECAC qualifiers winning the shot put and hammer throws and placing second in the discus. She had a 12.19-meter toss in the shot, while junior Corrine Taylor followed in second with a 10.74-meter heave. Smith won the hammer with a mark of 43.99 meters narrowly edging junior Kristina Stockburger who had a runner-up ECAC-good throw of 43.93 meters. Smith placed second in the discus with a distance of 36.44 meters.
 
Junior Alex Rechen hit the ECAC standard in the pole vault clearing 3.27 meters to finish second in the event.
 
Ithaca's 4x100-meter relay team of sophomores Lizzi Dowling and Eliza Dewart, freshman Rose Paskoff and sophomore Sarah Werner clocked an ECAC qualifier of 49.91 to win the race.
 
The Bombers claimed the top two spots in the 100 and 200 dashes and the 100 and 400 hurdles. Junior Harmony Graves won the 100 in 12.93 and the 200 in 26.33. Paskoff ran second in the 100 in 13.26 and Dewart was the runner-up in the 200 in 26.55.
 
Junior Christine Benway secured top honors in the 100 hurdles with a 15.85 performance. Sophomore Allie Nugent took second crossing the finish line in 16.36. Junior Kassie Moore won the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:07.99. In second place with a 1:08.61 finish was freshman Kristin Lynn.
 
Ithaca student-athletes won the 800, high jump, long jump and javelin. Sophomore Carleigh Rosenberg raced to a 2:33.88 finish in the 800. Classmate Kristen Pompey cleared 1.50 meters in the high jump and sophomore Emily Williams hit 4.58 meters in the long. Freshman Francesca Boylan had a javelin toss of 32.27 meters.
 
Junior Cally Moules placed second in the 1,500 in 5:43.05 and freshman Lexi Clavet earned silver in the triple with a distance of 10.12 meters.
 
The Bombers return to action Thursday, April 24 at the Penn Relays.
