ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team completed the second day of the UNYSCSA / Empire 8 Championships Thursday evening. The Bombers held their first-place point total, accumulating 706 points through two days of competition. Stevens Institute of Technology sits in second place with an overall score of 629 points.
Heather Markus highlighted the second day for Ithaca, taking the top spot in the 1-meter dive with a score of 489.40. Her score set a new program, association and meet record, breaking
Korie Fackler's score of 477.85 set in 2013.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of
Lake Duffy,
Lauren Cox,
Grace Ayer and
Elizabeth Gawrys set a new program record, taking second overall with a time of 1:36.55. Gawrys went on to earn all-state honors in the 400-yard individual medley, finishing sixth with a time of 4:37.90.
Freshman
Megan Zart paced the Bomber women in the 100-yard butterfly as she took eighth overall with a time of 1:00.14. Teammates
Lyndsay Isaksen (59.97) and
Cassie Papaleo (59.99) finished first in the B-Final and C-Final, respectively.
Megan Buisman took third overall in the 200-yard freestyle, earning all-state honors with a time of 1:55.29.
The Bombers closed out day two with a second-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of
Kylie Bangs,
Meredith Wells, Ayer and Duffy finished in a time of 3:55.21, a top-10 time in school history.
