NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Ithaca College men's cross country team is perched atop the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III
All-Academic Team list. The Bombers, tied with Amherst, reported the highest team GPA at 3.66.
Ithaca was among 146 men's teams that earned All-Academic Team honors for the 2013 season. Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.10 or greater and competed in at least five different meets with at least five runners representing their school at each.
Ithaca was one of 141 institutions that had both their women's and men's teams earn the honor.
The Bombers had
five individuals earn USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for the 2013 season. Honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.30 or greater and must have finished among the top 25 percent of finishers at their respective regional championships.
Ithaca was one of 15 institutions with five student-athletes honored. A total of 228 men were named to the all-academic team.
Empire 8 Rookie of the Year,
Sean Phillips, was one of 11 student-athletes that recorded a 4.0 cumulative GPA. Joining Phillips on the all-academic team was junior captain
Dennis Ryan and sophomores
Sawyer Hitchcock,
Stephen Gomez and
Larkin Bohanan.
