ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team defeated Union Saturday afternoon by a score of 193-105 at the A&E Center Aquatics Pavilion. The Bombers finished first in 11-of-16 events.
The Bombers took the top spot in the first event of the day, as the team of
Kylie Bangs,
Meredith Wells,
Grace Ayer and
Lake Duffy finished the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:06.05.
Individually, Ayer went on to two more first place finishes, pacing the field with a time of 1:58.29 in the 200-yard freestyle and a time of 5:19.97 in the 500-yard freestyle. Duffy also experienced solo success throughout the remainder of the meet, finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.07 and earning the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle with a finishing time of 55.18.
Miranda Wingfield earned another top spot with a finishing time of 10:51.50 in the 1000-yard freestyle, while
Lyndsay Isaksen touched first in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:15.87.
Nickie Griesemer swept both diving events for the Bombers, earning a first place finish in the 1-meter (311.40) and the 3-meter dive (303.80). Griesemer's total in the 1-meter set a new program record, breaking Amanda Liddy's 1995 mark of 282.60. Griesemer' 303.80 in the 3-meter also set a program record, breaking her own mark of 295.35 that was set last week.
The women capped the meet with another relay win, as Ayer, Duffy,
Samantha Reilly and
Cassie Papaleo took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:42.81.
Ithaca is back in action on Feb. 15, as the Bombers host the Ithaca Invitational.
