Mary Wallenbeck

Mary Wallenbeck completed her 25th year as an assistant coach with the men's and women's track & field programs in 2024-25. She works with the long, triple and high jumpers. Coach Wallenbeck was named 2010 Atlantic Region Women’s Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

A graduate of the 2010 NCAA Women's Coaches Academy and US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association certification in Jumping Event Specialist in 2017. Wallenbeck completed her B.S. in Health Education and Physical graduated from Ithaca, where she was a member of the track & field and volleyball teams. She served as an assistant coach for the Ithaca volleyball team from 2001-08.

As the jumps coach, Wallenbeck has guided athletes to numerous accolades at the conference, regional and national level.  Wallenbeck has coached more than 20 NCAA All-Americans, more than 40 NCAA qualifiers, and two-time NCAA Champion in the pentathlon. In cooperation with other Bomber coaching staff members, IC has won more than 50 conference, state and regional championships for the indoor and outdoor seasons.
 
Wallenbeck also spent eight seasons as a varsity track & field and 12 season as the varsity volleyball coach at Spencer Van Etten High School.

Her father is former women’s cross country and assistant track & field coach Bill Ware, a member of the Ithaca Athletic Hall of Fame.
