Ithaca College Athletics

2008-09: Ortiz was Empire 8 runner-up in the steeplechase with a time of 12:18.78. She also was an all-state performer in the event, placing third overall with a career-best time of 12:18.27. During the indoor season, she was a member of the distance medley relay team that won the Empire 8 title at 13:11.90. She earned all-state accolades by placing third as a member of the 3,200-meter relay team (10:11.12) and seventh in the 5,000-meter run (19:37.74).

2007-08: Ortiz was Empire 8 champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as a freshman, running 12:24.16 and finishing nearly one minute in front of her closest competitor. She was also named to the all-NYSCTC team after finishing eighth in the event at the championship meet with a season-best time of 12:05.16.

High School: A 2007 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Ortiz was coached by Blair Balogh. She ran on the Section IX champion 3,200-meter relay team and earned a total of nine letters seven letters in track & field. Ortiz also lettered in cross country.

Personal: An exercise science/athletic training major, she is the daughter of Carlos and Sandra Ortiz. She is also a member of the cross country team.
