Biography
2009: Ortiz earned second-team Empire 8 all-star honors with a ninth-place finish at the conference championship, where she posted a time of 19:13. At the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship, she posted a time of 24:09 to help the Bombers qualify for the NCAA Championship. Ortiz placed 78th out of 239 runners.
2008: Ortiz raced 10 times, and was one of Ithaca's top-seven finishers in all of them. She earned all-conference honors after finishing ninth at the Empire 8 meet with a time of 19:04. Her time of 18:59 at Hamilton was a new career-fastest, and her 15th-place showing was one of five top-20 finishes on the season. Ortiz was one of the Bombers' scoring runners at the Atlantic Regional Championships, finishing 53rd at 24:58, and placed 245th with a time of 23:53.80 at nationals.
2007: Ortiz competed in six events as a freshman with a pair of top-15 finishes. Ortiz finished 15th at the Empire 8 Championship, missing all-conference honors by one place. She ran a career-best 19:02 at the NYSCTC Championship, placing 33rd. Ortiz also recorded top-20 finishes at the Houghton Invitational and the Hamilton Invitational.
High School: A 2007 graduate of Newburgh Free Academy, Ortiz was coached by Blair Balogh. She earned two varsity letters as a member of the cross country team and was a two-time all-county performer. Ortiz also lettered as a member of the track & field team.
Personal: An athletic training major, she is the daughter of Sandra and Carlos Ortiz. She is also a member of Ithaca's track & field team.
