Sam competed five times his freshman year including three 8k races, setting a PR of 28:01 at the Highlander Invitational at Houghton College. He also competed in indoor and outdoor track and field, and is a cinema/photography major with a concentration in cinema production.
In high school, Sam set a PR of 16:20 at the 3 mile McQuaid Invitational course in Rochester. He ran for Trumansburg High School all four years.
