Biography

2004-05: McGreal won the NYSCTC indoor championship in the 1,500-meter run and placed fourth in the 1,000-meter run. He also placed third in the 1,500-meter run and eighth in the 800-meter run at the outdoor championships. McGreal was the Empire 8 champion in the 1,500 in both the indoor and outdoor seasons, and earned all-ECAC honors after placing eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He was a member of the state-champion 800-meter relay team, which set a school record with a time of 7:43.76.
 
2003-04: McGreal, the 2003 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year in cross country, finished runner-up in the 3,000-meter run (9:15022) at the Empire 8 indoor championships. He finished 10th in the 1,500-meter run (4:06.73) and 15th in the 3,000-meter run at the NYSCTC indoor championships. At the state outdoor championships, McGreal placed sixth in the 1,500- and 5,000-meter runs in 4:02.40 and 16:19.80, respectively. He finished 18th in the 1,500-meter run (4:08.12) at the ECAC championships. He won the 5,000-meter run at the Hamilton Invitational in a career-best time of 15:32.76. McGreal also ran a career-best time of 9:03.51 in the 3,000-meter run at the Tufts indoor invitational.

High School: McGreal competed in indoor and outdoor track and field at Boston College High School, where he was coached by Ron Glennon. He was named an all-Catholic conference most valuable runner.

Personal: A student in the exploratory program, he is the son of William McGreal and Carol Sweeney.
