Biography

2010-11: Orenstein was a two-time Empire 8 champion as a sophomore helping the Bombers win the indoor and outdoor 1,600-meter relays. He also earned All-NYSCTC accolades for a fourth-place finish in the DMR and All-ECAC honors for a seventh-place finish in the 400 dash. He recorded season-best times of 25.25 in the 200, 37.73 in the 300 and 53.33 in the 400 indoors, while also running a leg of the Bombers’ 3:25.59 4x400 relay. Outdoors he clocked season-best times of 23.67 in the 200 and 51.91 in the 400.

2009-10: During the indoor season of his freshman year, Orenstein competed in a pair of individual events and anchored the Bombers’ 3:40.73 1,600-meter relay. He set season-best times of 40.40 in the 300 dash and 54.75 in the 400 dash. Competing in the 200 and 400 dashes during the outdoor season, Orenstein ran season-best times of 25.20 and 54.45 at the Ithaca Open. He also competed on the Bombers’ 42.74 400 relay.

High School: A 2009 graduate of Trumbull High School, Orenstein was coached by Nick Banks. He was named team captain and was selected to the all-conference team as a senior. An eight-time letterwinner in track & field, Orenstein was also lettered three times as a striker on the soccer team.

Personal: A writing major, he is the son of Jay and Joanne Orenstein. His brother, Max, a 2011 graduate, was also a member of the Ithaca track & field team.
